What’s Happening at Victoria’s Children

We are pleased to share that Lewis has joined us this summer as a house father at Victoria’s Children. As many of you know, Lewis has been part of Victoria's Children for years. He is now in university and returned home for the summer break. We needed someone to step into the role of house father and help care for the boys, and Lewis was a natural fit. He is a leader and the children look up to him. We are glad to offer him paid work this summer, and we believe this is a meaningful leadership experience as he continues to grow. He will return to university at the end of the summer, and we will find another house father to continue the role. He is doing an excellent job!

Several of our high schoolers are home on midterm break, and they have been busy around the VC campus! They’ve been preparing a portion of the land for planting in anticipation of the short rains later in the year. Mary, the Director of Victoria’s Children, has them on a daily chore schedule, and she reports that their behavior has been excellent!

Two of our children are pursuing post-high school certifications. Eric is working toward a certification in electrical engineering, and Sarah is pursuing her Emergency Medical Technician certification. They are both excited to pursue these opportunities, and we are proud of both of them and ask that you keep them in your prayers as they work toward these goals.

Five of our children recently participated in the Day of the African Child, observed each year on June 16. The day serves as an ongoing call to action for children's rights across the continent. We were glad our children could take part, and it was a reminder of why the work of Victoria's Children matters.

Like any home, we go through seasons of illness with our children. Doctor's appointments are a regular part of life, and we are grateful that we are able to provide the medical care each child needs. That is only possible because of the faithful support of people like you. Thank you for making it possible for our children to receive the care they deserve.

Toriavic Christian School of Excellence Update

Work on the second and third floors of Toriavic Christian School of Excellence is moving along. In recent weeks, doors and windows were installed. The crews will now shift their focus inside, beginning to plaster walls.

We’ve received visits from several government inspection teams as construction has progressed. These inspections are part of the standard process to verify that projects like ours meet proper standards. We are pleased to report that we have passed every inspection.

We have also brought on a new assistant at the school. She is helping care for the children throughout the day, keeping classrooms clean, and serving meals in the dining room. Her support has been a real help in taking this work off of our teacher’s plates.

Our goal is still to complete construction of this building, along with the septic system, by the end of the year. We ask that you pray with us toward that finish line. There is still much to do, but we have seen God provide at every stage, and we trust He will continue.
